Steelhead protection

There is a new club for the friends of the Steelhead - the Steelhead Flyfishing Club Canada.

The club was founded by Günter Heufler, Willi Schmidt, Christopher Avi and Harry Birkl who are enthusiastic flyfisher and steelhead fans. This very strong fish was already near by extinct. Because of protection measures by the canadian fishery agency (like a strict removal prohibition) the fishing ressources are yet increasing again.

The club resides in Canada, BC, on the Skeena river - in the Skeena Salmon Lodge at Willi Schmidts'. This is where club members meet who fight for the preservation for the steelheads and their spawning areas. Their goal is protecting the creatures so that many preceding flyfishing generations may have the opportunity to catch this wonderful fish.
