The ghosts of the rivers
This is the surname of the Steehead trout in Canada, because around this time, the fish can hardly be made out in the glass-clear water. Spring is one of the best times for steelhead-fishing for the simple reason that around this time the newly climbing fish populate the river as well as last years fish. Towards end of April and early May, when air and water-temperatures are slowly climbing you even have the chance to outwit those fighters with the dry fly. But springtime offers more than just the possibility to catch the fantastic steelhead but also great opportunities to reel in cutthroat-, rainbow and bull-trouts as well as dolly varden.
And are you ready for some big fish? After all, at this time of the year the chinooks are gathering and start their climb up the Skeena and its tributaries. Catching one of these fish with a fly makes for an unforgettable experience.
There is a good reason for the Skeena system with its tributaries to have the reputation for being the worlds best salmon and steehead fishing grounds. Experience this fantastic fishery with us and enjoy the spring awakening in the wild and wonderful nature of Canada.
